The Association of Performing Arts Presenters is accepting applications for the 2010 Arts Presenters/MetLife Arts Access Awards.

The awards honor organizations that have either been exemplary in their dedication and approach to helping individuals with disabilities experience and value the performing arts, or in engaging underserved individuals and communities that lack access to the performing arts and cultural life in the community.

The Arts Presenters/MetLife Arts Access Award: Engaging Individuals With Disabilities will award $10,000 each to two organizations working to help individuals with disabilities experience and value the performing arts. This may be accomplished through programs and strategies that integrate new technologies, respond to recent demographic shifts, and/or establish an ongoing dialogue focused on individuals with sensory, cognitive, learning, developmental, and/or physical disabilities.

The Arts Presenters/MetLife Arts Access Award: Engaging Underserved Communities will award $10,000 each to two organizations that have been exemplary and innovative in their dedication and approach to engaging underserved individuals and communities that lack access to the performing arts and cultural life in the community. Such access could be a result of, but not limited to, differences in geographic location, socio-economic conditions, diverse backgrounds, or other factors.

These award opportunities are open to Association of Performing Arts Presenters members. All eligible applicants must be nonprofit or tax-exempt performing arts presenting and producing organizations. Visit the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Web site for complete award program information.
