The Heinz Endowments is seeking proposals for programs in targeted priority areas that will improve and increase life opportunities for African American boys and young men in the Pittsburgh region.

The endowments will award two types of grants to successful applicants: one-year planning grants of up to $10,000 to catalyze new efforts; and two-year project grants of up to $150,000 to support collaborative community-based programs or services.

All proposals should seek to improve the well being of boys and young men and must address one or more of the program’s priority areas — economic opportunity; educational opportunity; and identity, gender, and character development.

Collaboration among community-based organizations is encouraged.

To apply, interested organizations should complete the letter of inquiry form on the endowments’ Web site. If a full proposal is desired, program staff will request additional information.

Complete program guidelines are available at the Heinz Endowments Web site.
