New York State Health Foundation Launches 2010 Special Projects Fund Request for Proposals
Stephen | Friday, December 18th, 2009 | No Comments »The New York State Health Foundation has announced the launch of its 2010 Special Projects Fund Request for Proposals.
NYSHealth has a broad mission to improve the health of New York State residents. Most of the foundation’s grantmaking is focused on three priority areas — expanding health insurance coverage, improving the management and prevention of diabetes, and encouraging the integration of substance use and mental health services.
The foundation’s Special Projects Fund program is designed to be responsive to opportunities that fit the foundation’s mission but are outside its three priority areas. Special Projects Fund awards should be considered one-time, non-renewable funding opportunities. Eligible projects will take place over a specified period of time to achieve quantifiable results.
NYSHealth places emphasis on projects that help low-income and elderly consumers understand and navigate the health care system; improve access to health care in service areas that have acute shortages; address a statewide health system issue that could improve the efficiency or effectiveness of the system; improve quality of care in measurable ways; support and strengthen safety-net providers of health care; scale up successful programs or services to reach more people; and provide culturally appropriate programs for underserved populations. While projects that have impact within one organization or community are eligible, this RFP seeks initiatives that have a large-scale statewide or region-wide impact on New York State’s healthcare system.
NYSHealth will consider proposals from existing nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and for-profit organizations with a significant presence in New York State. Applicant organizations must show that proposed projects further the charitable mission of the New York State Health Foundation.
Potential applicants are required to contact the foundation to determine whether a proposed project fits the funding criteria prior to submitting a full application. NYSHealth staff will review these initial one-page inquiries on an ongoing basis and respond to potential applicants. There are two deadlines for full proposals in 2010: January 28, 2010, and May 20, 2010.
The complete Request for Proposals is available at the NYSHealth Web site.
