Paso del Norte Health Foundation Seeks Smoke Free Initiative Grant Proposals
Stephen | Wednesday, January 6th, 2010 | No Comments »The Paso del Norte Health Foundation works to promote wellness and prevent sickness among the 2.2 million people living in El Paso and Hudspeth Counties in West Texas, Doña Ana and Otero Counties in Southern New Mexico, and in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico.
The foundation is inviting eligible agencies to submit proposals for funding of tobacco control programs through the A Smoke Free Paso del Norte Initiative competitive process. Successful applicants will provide evidence-based programs in support of foundation efforts to eliminate tobacco use among adolescents within the Paso del Norte region.
The grant year for this Request for Proposal will run from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011. A SFI grant award may be of any size. The applicant organization may propose programs that are comprehensive and cover a host of topics/objectives related to tobacco control or focus on a single topic/objective. The foundation is particularly interested in programs that strengthen compliance with tobacco control policies.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit agencies with 501(c)(3), 509(a)(1), and 509(a)(3) certification; units of government (domestic or foreign); international organizations designated by executive order; exempt operating foundations; organizations formed outside the United States; private non-operating foundations; veterans groups under 501(c)(19); fraternal orders under 501(c)(10); trade associations under 501(c)(6); labor unions under 501(c)(5); and social welfare organizations under 501(c)(4) within the Paso del Norte region. Current grantees with a history of success related to tobacco control are encouraged to apply for continued funding.
